President – Community Banking

Brian Walhood serves as executive vice president and president of Community Banking at Cadence Bank, bringing 37 years of experience in commercial banking to the role. Since joining Cadence Bank (formerly BancorpSouth) in 1988 as a management trainee, Walhood has built a distinguished career through a series of leadership positions, including loan officer, bank manager, community bank president, division president, and chief sales officer. He is also a member of the Cadence Executive Management Committee.

He was named president of BancorpSouth’s Monroe, Louisiana Division in 2001 and later led the Northeast Region as president from 2003 to 2016. In his current role, Walhood oversees community banking strategy and execution across the Bank’s footprint, drawing on decades of experience in sales leadership, relationship management and regional banking operations.

Walhood holds a bachelor’s degree in banking and finance from Mississippi State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He is a current member and past chairman of the board of Regents at the Barret School of Banking in Memphis, Tennessee. An active community leader, he also served as President of DeSoto County Economic Council.

Originally from Clarksdale, Mississippi, Walhood has been happily married to his wife, Kelly, for 36 years, and they have two children.
