Supporting disadvantaged Mississippians and those unable to care for themselves

JACKSON, Miss. — March 28, 2022 - Cadence Bank, formerly BancorpSouth Bank, announced today its $200,000 donation to Catholic Charities, Inc. (Catholic Charities), supporting the organization's focus on helping the most vulnerable, especially children, women and families.

Catholic Charities will use the contribution to deliver direct services that address the needs of all people regardless of religious affiliation, race, color or country of origin, and to serve as an advocate to help these individuals develop the capacity to become independent and self-sufficient. The agency will also use portions of the donation to provide education and increased public awareness to create a more just and compassionate social order.

Established in 1837, Catholic Charities today serves the 65 counties of the Diocese of Jackson with headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi. Since its founding, the agency has continued to expand its services to serve Mississippians in new ways, including maternity care for unwed mothers and foster care for emotionally disturbed children and refugee children. Other services include alcohol and substance abuse services, Hope Haven home-based and residential services, two domestic violence centers, two rape crisis centers, emergency assistance, family life ministry, family counseling, refugee resettlement and social services, legal aid for immigrants, children’s mental health programs, and housing for low-income families and the elderly.
