Cadence Bank Veterans ERG Strengthens Community, Connection and Service

National Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month

At Cadence Bank, we’re committed to building a workplace where everyone can feel seen, supported and connected. Our Veterans Employee Resource Group (ERG), VETS@Cadence, continues to bring that vision to life by fostering a sense of community among veteran teammates and allies, and by extending meaningful support to veterans and active military personnel across the communities we serve. This work reflects our vision to help people, communities and companies prosper, embracing inclusivity and doing right by others, two of our company’s values.

Growing Membership and Bringing People Together

In 2025, VETS@Cadence increased its membership by 21%, now totaling 104 teammates, including 29 veterans. The ERG also surpassed its goal of maintaining an active base of at least 70 members, continuing to expand representation and impact across our footprint.

“These efforts are more than programs and volunteer hours. They are a continuation of service,” said Russell Shamburger, VETS@Cadence Chair and US Marine veteran. “Our members show up for each other and for our communities, because we believe in strengthening the bonds that help people thrive. This ERG reminds us that we are never alone, and that Cadence is a place where every teammate is valued for who they are and what they bring.”

To strengthen belonging and support, the group launched Rally Point Meetings based on feedback from their annual survey. These sessions have provided a space for conversations on challenges such as managing the deployments of loved ones, navigating stress, and discovering new career development pathways in partnership with HR.

Throughout the year, the ERG also hosted and participated in connection-building events across Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, further nurturing a culture that values shared experiences and service.

A Shared Commitment to Service

As we celebrate VETS@Cadence, we celebrate the power of community, connection and compassion in action. Together, we continue to build a workplace culture rooted in respect, gratitude and the belief that shared purpose creates lasting impact.

“Being part of this ERG has given me a community that understands both where I’ve been and where I am going,” states VETS@Cadence ERG member Patrick Dempsey and US Marine Corps veteran. “The transition from military to corporate life can feel like starting over. This group has helped me build connections, ask questions and show up as my full self. It is a reminder that service doesn’t stop when the uniform comes off—it is just a different way to serve now.”
